Megastar Amitabh Bachchan will be seen in Ribhu Dasgupta’s drama-thriller Te3n along with the award-winning actor Vidya Balan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The movie is slated to release on the 10th of June this year and has already garnered a lot of attention from the audience.
For the past eight years, John Biswas (Amitabh Bachchan) has been visiting the police station daily in order to find some leads on the sudden disappearance of her granddaughter, Angela. Though the world has changed completely in these eight years, Biswas’ relentless quest for justice has only grown stronger. The person whose help the old man seeks is Martin Das (Siddiqui), an ex-cop turned priest whose life was altered drastically by the kidnapping of Angela.
One day, after eight years of the incident, a similar series of events take place that echo the mysterious kidnapping of Angela. The cop, Sarita Sarkar (Vidya Balan) once again drags Father Martin into the investigation and both try to find new ways to tackle the kidnapping. On the other hand, Biswas pieces together the identity of Angela’s kidnapper from the bits of information that he collects on his own.
Set in Kolkata, the movie has an eerie similarity to Sujoy Ghosh’s thriller- Kahaani. Parallels have also been drawn with the 2013 South Korean thriller movie Montage. The critically acclaimed movie’s story revolves around the disappearance of a kidnapper for fifteen years and how a similar kidnapping takes place using the same method. Three people unite to unravel the mystery- the grandfather of the child who is abducted, the mother of the victim and a detective struck by guilty-conscience.
Though the makers of Te3n have promised a twist to the plot, we just have a déjà-vu feeling looking at the trailer! What do you think?
