When the lethal duo of Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Anurag Kashyap come together, it becomes a treat for the audience and critics alike. Coming June 24, the actor will be seen portraying the role of a psychopathic killer in Mumbai. Nawazuddin is known for breaking stereotypes and Raman Raghav 2.0 is just another movie where we will get to see the actor’s splendid performance.
Blood flowing through the streets alongside piercing looks of Siddiqui make for a truly blood-curdling moment for the audience. The reference dates back to the 1960s, Mumbai when the psychopathic serial killer Raman Raghav also known as “Psycho Raman” committed crimes like murder, assault and many others.
Though not much is known about the real Raghav and the circumstances in his life, he is most known for his notorious bludgeoning of pavement and hut dwellers while they slept. Raghav committed most of his crimes in the darkness of the night, moving slyly across the city, using a hard and blunt object to give his victims a painful end.
After evading for a long time from the police, Raghav was finally arrested where he confessed to murdering 23 people in 1966 and a dozen more in 1968. As inhabitants of slums and apartments dreaded sleeping outside or with their windows open, we can only imagine what terror the perpetrator must have invoked among locals.
Raghav was finally diagnosed with a mental condition that was defined as “incurable” but through the interrogation it was clear that he showed fixed and systematized delusions of persecution and grandeur wherein he felt that there were two distinct worlds, one of ‘kanoon’ and the other which was his. Among other symptoms he continuously iterated that he was a “101% man” and that the government along with other institutions was trying to change his sex.
Thought to be the worst and India’s most horrific serial killer, we are sure that Nawazuddin will do complete justice to the role and leave the audience awed yet again. The trailer gives slight hints of Raghav’s disorder where he mentions about an imaginary path like a chessboard with black and white squares and how he only steps on the black checks to stay in the game.
Strong dialogue deliveries, a mind-boggling story line and terrific acting is what you can expect out of Raghav Raman 2.0 . Watch out for 24th June, 2016 when “madness meets mayhem.”
