Born into a family of Rajputs in Ranchi, Dhoni has two siblings, sister Jayanti Gupta and brother Narendra Singh Dhoni. As a child Dhoni admired Adam Gilchrist, Sachin Tendulkar, Amitabh Bachchan and Lata Mangeshkar.

At school, Dhoni excelled in badminton and football where he was selected in district and club level by his football coach. Though Mahi did not play much of cricket yet his wicket-keeping skills impressed everyone and he was selected for the Under 16 Championship. He started focusing on cricket only after his tenth grade.

Telling The Untold Story

A very promising lad otherwise, not much is known about the cricketer’s personal life. From playing pranks with his friends to marrying his classmate Sakshi Dhoni, the cricketer has always managed to keep matters of the heart and family  a low key affair.

Sushant Singh Rajput who earlier portrayed the role of Ishaan Bhatt, an ex-district level cricketer in Kai Po Che will now be seen playing Dhoni in reel life. Kiara Advani will be seen as the cricketer’s wife while renowned actor Anupam Kher plays the role of Dhoni’s father, Pan Singh.
