Based on the popular game series, Assassin’s Creed is an action adventure movie starring Michael Fassbender, Marrion Cottilard and Jeremy Irons. The movie takes you through the same universe as the game but features an original story that expands the series’ mythology taking place during the Spanish Inquisition.
Here are some amazing facts and trivia about the movie.
The Leap Of Faith
The movie features one of the highest free fall performed by a stuntman in almost 35 years! The stuntman, Damien Walters performed a free fall from the height of 125 feet and it lasted almost 3 seconds with an 61 mph impact speed.
Actor Michael Fassbender had never played any of the nine games in the series until before filming commenced. He only got to know about the game when he was hired by Ubisoft.
The Making Of An Assassin
The Assassins’ costumes took 2-3 months to be designed and were all hand-crafted. There are eight versions of each costume, with an entire costume team devoted to each of the Assassins.
In the games, the Animus is a virtual reality machine rediscovered, developed, and sold by Abstergo Industries. It allows the user to read a subject’s genetic memory, and project it onto an external screen in three dimensions.
Alicia Vikander was considered for the role of Maria before Ariane Labed was cast. Vikander dropped out as she chose to do Jason Bourne instead.
Director Justin Kurzel didn’t want to show Assassins as heroes and Templars as villains or the opposite, because both ideologies can’t be clearly called right on wrong and both of them can be corrupted. They can go to extremes: anarchy for Assassins and control for Templars.
To Get The Perfect Shot
Drones were largely used to shoot some of the most agile action scenes of the film.
