Heartthrob Shahid Kapoor is all set to play a lawyer in his next movie titled Batti Gul Meter Chalu. The movie will be helmed by director-editor Shree Narayan Singh whose debut directorial venture Toilet: Ek Prem Katha smashed the box office this year.
Batti Gul Meter Chalu is speculated to be a social drama. It will be shot in North India with a start-to-finish schedule across Haridwar, Rishikesh, Tehri, Mussoorie and Nainital.
Written by Vipul K Rawal, the writer of Rustom, the movie is said to be an out and out entertainer with the right blend of intensity as well as light-hearted moments. However, the leading lady of the movie is yet to be finalized. The female lead will also be portraying the role of a lawyer.
The movie will be a humorous take on the shortage of electricity. It will showcase the importance of electricity in our lives and will portray the plight of a common man when he faces enormous bills. The film is expected to go on floors on January 19 and the makers are hoping to wrap up the entire shoot by April.
This is the first time that we will see the charming Shahid Kapoor playing the role of a lawyer. He has won hearts with his splendid performances in movie like Haider, Kaminey, Jab We Met and Udta Punjab. He is working on a social drama for the first time. And we are already excited to see this never seen before avatar of Shahid.
Currently, Shahid Kapoor is looking forward to his big release Padmavati which is a period drama where he plays the character of Raja Ratan Singh.
Batti Gul Meter Chalu is being co-produced by the father-daughter duo, Virendra and Prerna Arora, along with T-Series. It is expected to release on 31 August, 2018.
