Putting an end to frenzied speculations, Indian cricket skipper Virat Kohli and Bollywood star Anushka Sharma got married in Italy on Monday. The couple announced their wedding on Twitter and broke the internet. According to a statement released on behalf of the couple, the Virushka wedding was attended by close family and friends as they wanted it to be a very private affair.

The Virushka wedding took place according to Hindu rituals at a countryside resort in Tuscany. The functions included Haldi, Mehndi and Ring ceremony followed by the Wedding ceremony. The gorgeous couple wore outfits designed by famous fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee for the functions. Here are more details of the ceremonies that took place:
The haldi ceremony was an extremely low key affair enjoyed thoroughly by close friends and family. Dressed in a yellow kurta, Virat Kohli danced with his buddies who made his special day more special.
For the Mehndi, the couple looked charming. Anushka was wearing a boho-inspired Sabyasachi outfit with shades of yellow and hot pink. Virat matched her with a fuchsia pink textured silk Nehru jacket detailed with the Sabyasachi House blazer buttons.
Virat and Anushka were dressed up like a classic power couple. Virat was seen in a dapper blue suit while Anushka looked stunning in a maroon saree. They shared a cute moment during the ceremony when Virat kissed the lovely Anushka as the onlookers cheered the couple. They exchanged rings as Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking out Loud” played in the background.
Anushka looked no less than a queen, while Virat looked like a dream complimenting her in every way. The bride walked up to the stage for the pheras with “Din Shagana De” song (from her movie Phillauri) playing in the background. She was warmly taken by the hand by Kohli to help her get on to the stage. The duo then share an adorable eye-to-eye contact.
The couple will be hosting a grand reception in New Delhi for their relatives on 21 December that will be followed by another reception for industry friends and cricketers in Mumbai on 26 December. Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli will be commencing their married journey in their new apartment in Worli, Mumbai. They are speculated to ring in the New Year in South Africa, the venue for team India’s next cricketing tour. Anushka will fly back to resume filming on her projects, which includes Anand L. Rai’s untitled movie with Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif and YRF’s Sui Dhaaga: Made In India opposite Varun Dhawan.
