Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi
Kangana Ranaut is ready to play the role of Rani Laxmibai of Jhansi in the upcoming epic biopic Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi which is releasing in April this year. Ranaut who is known to play strong characters in her movies delivered spectacular movies like Queen, Tanu Weds Manu and Tanu Weds Manu Returns on her shoulders. She has played a major role in putting female actors on the forefront. The film also stars television actress Ankita Lokhande who is making her Bollywood debut with this one.
Veere Di Wedding
Joining the list is Rhea Kapoor’s Veere Di Wedding. Rhea has earlier been associated with Aisha, which was another beautiful film about three female friends. Veere Di Wedding will mark Kareena Kapoor’s return to the big screen post the birth of her son Taimur. The story revolves around Kareena’s role of a to-be-bride and her girlfriends, who are attending the wedding. It will also feature Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhaskar, Shikha Talsania and Sumit Vyas in pivotal roles. Veere Di Wedding is a chick flick that promises full on entertainment. Directed by Shashanka Ghosh the movie will hit the screens on 18 May this year.
This year has a lot in store for those looking out for Alia Bhatt. Meghna Gulzar’s Raazi is he first big release. This thriller will see Bhatt playing a Kashmiri girl opposite Masaan fame Vicky Kaushal. Raazi is a period film based on a true story. The movie will see Alia in an all new avatar. She will play the character of a woman spy who marries a Pakistani officer with the intention to source out intelligence details and pass it off to Indian forces. The movie is said to be based on Harinder Sikka’s novel “Calling Sehmat.”
Anushka Sharma will be seen in Pari that is being produced under her own co-production Clean Slate Films and Prernaa Arora and Arjun N Kapoor’s KriArj Entertainment. Anushka has earlier produced NH10 and Phillauri that showed substantial women characters. The horror movie is said to be based in Kolkata and Mumbai. Anushka has always entertained the audiences in cheerful and bubbly characters. But this time, she is ready to scare the audience. In the first look posters, she appears extremely unconscious and ripped. We can’t wait to see what the movie has in store for us.
The comeback film of Rani Mukerji, Hichki is as different as its name. Rani will be seen in the character of Naina Mathur who is suffering from Tourette syndrome (a neurological disorder characterized by multiple motor tics) and aspires to become a school teacher. After facing multiple rejections, she eventually gets a job in the school to teach a bunch of indecorous students. Filled with a lively vibe, Hichki chronicles the journey of an ordinary woman with a never give up attitude. It will be a delight to watch Rani Mukerji who shows that there is no life without a few hiccups. Her million dollar smile is still capable of pulling crowds to the cinemas.
