‘Mukkabaaz’: Anurag Kashyap’s Movie Is Packed With Exceptional Drama And Dialoguebaazi

Anurag Kashyap has given a scintillating start to 2018 with his much anticipated movie Mukkabaaz. Featuring Vineet Kumar Singh, Jimmy Shergill and Zoya Hussain in pivotal roles, Mukkabaaz is a perfect package of drama, action and romance complimented with brilliant dialogues.

The story is based in Uttar Pradesh. It showcases the journey of a lower-caste aspiring boxer, Shravan who trains under the upper-caste don played by Jimmy Shergill. Shravan, who is barely educated falls for Mishra’s niece Sunaina, but Brahmin Mishra does not approve of the match. The movie continues with an entertaining journey as Shravan faces Mishra’s wrath and faces a dilemma about his priorities in life.

Anurag Kashyap has aced as a director with his previous movies like Dev.D, Black Friday and Gangs Of Wasseypur Part 1 and 2.  With Mukkabaaz, he has taken a step further and has excelled as a filmmaker yet another time. He has assured to bring the best out of his actors.

Jimmy Shergill as Bhagwan Das Mishra plays a cliched corrupt politician with utmost excellence. His stern look and intense eyes will give you goosebumps. Vineet Kumar Singh deserves every praise possible. His hard work and dedication to portray Shravan can be witnessed in each and every frame. It wasn’t an easy task to play a character who is in a war between his heart & mind. The whirling sounds of his punches will hit you hard. As the movie ends, you can’t help but laud his brave act and performance.

Debutant Zoya Hussain as Sunaina who plays a deaf-mute by birth speaks volumes with her expressions and performance. Her screen presence is commendable. She surely is one of those actors who is here to stay. This sports drama is an out and out entertainer which emerges as a winner in all aspects.

The biggest highlight of the movie is the exceptional dialogues. When Shergill who looks in top form says, “Hum Brahman hain, aadesh dete hain,” you get goosebumps. There are others like, “Naam Bhagwan hone se koi bhagwan toh nahin ho jaata,” that make you feel that Anurag Kashyap is a pure genius.

Mukkabaaz makes an entertaining ride and is surely worth a watch for its captivating plot and spectacular performances. It lives up to our expectations and leaves us wanting more from Anurag Kashyap.
