Even if you don’t follow Bollywood minutely, there is no way you have missed this title. Padmaavat has taken the nation by a stir in the past few months, and has found itself amidst several controversies. After shifting several release dates, the movie is finally hitting the country’s silver screens on 25 January. Here are seven reasons why you must book tickets for this epic:
Grandeur of a Bhansali Film
The genius behind creating major motion pictures such as Bajirao Mastani and Goliyon ki Rasleela: Ramleela, is well-known for creating exquisite sets for his movies. Every prop in a Bhansali movie adds to the story in a highly symbolic manner. Each piece of furniture comes to as much life as the characters themselves. Examples of his attention to detail could be seen in his iconic movies such as Devdas (2002) and Black (2005). Padmaavat, another elaborate creation of Bhansali promises no less. The trailer gave us glimpses of the exuberant and majestic land of Chittorgarh giving us a tip-of-the-iceberg feeling.
Stellar Cast and Performance
The movie is star-studded with the industry’s finest actors: Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor. Blockbuster movies such as Bajirao Mastani and Goliyon ki Rasleela: Ramleela has showcased truly dramatic performances by the exceptionally talented love birds Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone. Adding to the splendid cast is Shahid Kapoor who leaves the audience starstruck every time he appears on the screen.
Top Notch VFX and Special Effects
Bhansali has brilliantly utilised the powerful tool of VFX and special effects in his new film. From depicting lakhs of foot soldiers in a brutal war to creating horses, elephants and intricate chariots, the graphics created in this film are bound to stun any audience. The best of Bollywood and Hollywood has been put to work for creating the eerily real visuals which Padmaavat is full of. It is definitely something to look forward to!
The plot of Padmaavat is the ultimate potboiler of action, unforeseen twists and fearsome drama! Padmaavat is essentially a tale of honour, valour and obsession. Set in circa 1303 AD, the movie revolves around how the lives of Padmavati (Deepika Padukone) and Maha Rawal Ratan Singh (Shahid Kapoor) is turned upside down with the invasion of the Sultan of Hindustan – Alauddin Khilji (Ranveer Singh).
Rich and Theatrical Music
The gorgeous traditional dance performances are classic features of a Bhansali film. Some of the finest examples are “Nagaada Sang Dhol Baaje” in Ram Leela and “Pinga” in Bajirao Mastani. Padmaavat has already begun stealing hearts with Deepika Padukone’s scintillating avatar in “Ghoomar”. Deepika Padukone had to perform over 66 twirls while wearing a lehenga which weighed around 30 kgs! The second song “Ek Dil Ek Jaan” is a romantic ballad showcasing the effortless bond of romance between Padmavati (Deepika Padukone) and Maha Rawal Ratan Singh (Shahid Kapoor).
Another Collaboration by the Legendary Trio!
Prior to Padmaavat, Sanjay Leela Bhansali had created two other major blockbusters with the ravishing duo of Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh. The movies were Bajirao Mastani (2015) and Goliyon ki Rasleela: Ramleela (2013), which created an unforgettably rich chemistry between the two, leaving the audience stunned and aching for more! With Padmaavat, Bhansali promises to recreate an equally magical experience for his viewers, and finally put an end to their prolonged wait.
Ranveer Singh Plays The Anti-Hero!
Padmaavat will show the energetic Ranveer Singh in a negative role for the first time ever. He will be playing the fearsome character of Alauddin Khilji, a ruthless tyrant who is the Sultan of Hindustan. In the movie, he aims to capture the Kingdom of Chittor after being heavily allured by the exceptional beauty of Rani Padmavati (Deepika Padukone), the wife of Maha Rawal Ratan Singh (Shahid Kapoor).
We could keep going on, but these are our top seven reasons why Padmaavat is an absolute must-watch for anyone this year.
