Popular Punjabi singer-actor Gippy Grewal usually plays cheerful and light-hearted roles. However, he has embraced a serious and intense new avatar for his upcoming project. He appears as the celebrated Indian Army soldier Subedar Joginder Singh, in the much awaited biographical war film of the same name.
Starring Aditi Sharma as the leading lady, Subedar Joginder Singh highlights the valor and struggle of the Indian soldiers who refused to evacuate their post despite being outnumbered by Chinese troops. The story focuses on the life and times of the man who was commanding the platoon of those brave soldiers.

A Param Vir Chakra recipient, Subedar Joginder Singh led the Sikh Regiment in Arunachal Pradesh during the 1962 Sino-Indian war. Though the Chinese heavily outnumbered the Indian troops , Singh’s leadership ensured that they kept up a great fight. Also, before the enemy could overpower him, he single-handedly killed many of them.
Highly successful Punjabi film writer-director Simerjit Singh has directed the film. The shooting locations for the film include climatically harsh districts in Jammu & Kashmir. And in order to get the right look for the role, Gippy Grewal has undergone extensive training for a drastic physical transformation. Bringing together the elements of self-sacrifice and courage, the film is a promising attempt at showcasing extraordinary bravery on screen.
