The trailer for the upcoming Telugu film MLA comprises of three key elements: Powerful punchlines, humorous one-liners and romance brimming in a political scenario. It is evident that the movie brings together several interesting subjects. Essentially, the plot follows the journey of two people who fall in love under extremely unusual circumstances. And though it may seem like a light-hearted love story, there is a more serious, deeper tone to it.
As the title suggests, MLA has politics and elections at the core of its narrative. The movie adheres to the conventional good-over-evil concept. Set in the backdrop of a village, MLA traces the life of a man who puts his own interests aside to win an impossible election. It all begins as a battle for love but soon takes a turn towards improving the lives of the villagers.
The title comes with the tagline “Manchi Lakshanalunna Abbai” that translates into “A boy with good qualities.” While it stars Ravi Kishen as the antagonist, it also brings back the super-hit duo of Kajal Aggarwal and Nandamuri Kalyan Ram. The two last appeared together in the 2007 release Lakshmi Kalyanam, another action-drama with a village backdrop. The actors are donning new looks for their roles in the upcoming fim. While Kalyan Ram’s character is sarcastic and rough, Kajal Aggarwal maintains a girl-next-door persona.
MLA marks the directorial debut of Upendra Madhav, known for his contribution to box office hits like Aagadu and Toss. And apart from the political drama and the romantic angle, it focuses on the ideals of survival, education and progress. The highly acclaimed Mani Sharma has composed the music for the film.
