The trend of horror films in Bollywood hasn’t seen much of experimentation lately. And the themes and tactics have started to grow repetitive over the years. Although the recent releases like Pari and Phillauri have attempted unconventional handling of the genre, a lot still remains to be explored. In such a scenario, a horror-comedy like Nanu Ki Jaanu promises a refreshing take on the subject of ghost-human encounters.
Nanu Ki Jaanu marks Abhay Deol‘s return to films after a span of two years. Starring opposite him is Patralekhaa who last appeared in the 2014 drama Citylights. The trailer has a refreshing vibe with the ghost (Patralekhaa) inducing silly, slapstick humor throughout!

The trailer opens with a typical horror-movie setup. Isolated skyscrapers stand in the middle of the night, lights flicker and an eerie background score starts to play. This is followed by a frightened Nanu (Abhay Deol) waking up abruptly. However, the mood soon lightens up as he attempts to convince his neighbors and friends about the existence of a ghost in his house. While everyone laughs at him, he tries to wrap his around the fact that this ghost is actually cleaning up his apartment and smashing his beer bottles!
Through a series of hilarious dialogues, the trailer takes on another interesting turn. The ghost is obviously smitten by Nanu and begins punishing anyone who bothers him. Action and dance sequences follow a series of attempts at solving the mystery of this ghost.
A Faraz Haider direction, Nanu Ki Jaanu is written by Manu Rishi Chadha who earlier wrote the dialogues for Oye Lucky Lucky Oye (2008) and Yeh Saali Zindagi (2011). Abhay Deol last appeared in the 2016 comedy Happy Bhag Jayegi.
