In Paa, he played son to his real-life son and now, he plays father to a 75-year old man! Amitabh Bachchan is always ready to surprise the audience with unconventional roles and 102 Not Out is the latest treat for his fans. The film brings back the iconic Bollywood duo of Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor after a span of 27 years. And if the quirky teasers of the film had stolen your heart, the official trailer will make you fall in love with them all over again.
Based on a Gujarati play by Saumya Joshi, 102 Not Out revolves around the unusual bond between a 75 year old man (Kapoor) and his 102 year old father (Bachchan). While the young-at-heart father is a source of joy to everyone around him, the grumpy son keeps whining about old age. The trailer is filled with ridiculous clashes of opinion between the two. While it is evident that the two love each other a lot, it is the difference in their personalities that forms the highlight of the plot.
The trailer opens with Bachchan unveiling a cutout of “Mr Won Chung…. from China,” a man who holds the record for having lived the longest. In a distinct Gujarati accent, Bachchan declares that he now aims to break that record! Rishi Kapoor, on the other hand, is still trying to come to terms with his own age. From that point on, the trailer keeps getting funnier with every shot.
The 102 year old father plays pranks on the son and constantly pulls his leg. He even tries to talk him into writing a love letter. The hilarity reaches its peak when he threatens to send the son to an old-age home! Rishi Kapoor’s obvious irritation and lacking sense of humor only enhances the comic appeal of the scenes.
The trailer also captures beautiful, heart-warming moments between the two. When Bachchan tucks up a sick Kapoor in bed and makes him smile or when the two dance in the rain, it seems to be the most endearing father-son relationship in the world!
The veteran actors are sporting never-seen-before looks in the film. Their makeup and attire together make the characters appear convincing. The film is directed by Umesh Shukla and promises to keep you grinning all throughout.
