CHENNAI SUPER KINGS – WHISTLE PODU EXPRESS
It won’t be wrong to say that Chennai Super Kings ruled IPL 2018 like a boss! They kicked off the season with a victory and ended on a high as well. The first match of VIVO IPL 2018 – Chennai Super Kings Vs Mumbai Indians was a visual treat for all the cricket fans. MS Dhoni led CSK won the nail-biting match with 1 wicket. From thereon, Whistle Podu Express kept running on high speed!
With the net run rate of +0.253, CSK were one of the toppers on the score-table throughout the season. Cut down to yesterday’s final match, CSK triumphed against SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH). Shane Watson thrashed the bowling squad of SRH with his impressive knock of 117(57) and lead his team to win by 8 wickets. Coincidentally, he also became the first player on the winning side to have scored a ton while chasing in an IPL final.
MS Dhoni is regarded as one of the most successful captains in International Cricket. IPL is no stranger to this master player’s leadership skills. He led CSK to victory for the third time in IPL. Interestingly, that made Harbhajan Singh and Ambati Rayudu match up the record of Rohit Sharma of winning the maximum IPL titles.
To add to all, our beloved skipper, Mahendra Singh Dhoni also created a record of his own. He holds the highest number of stumpings in the IPL. With the stumping of SRH skipper, Kane Williamson he took his tally to 33 stumpings in 175 matches. He surpassed Robin Uthappa’s (KKR) previous high record.
CELEBRATIONS LIKE NEVER BEFORE
IPL 2018 Closing Ceremony was bigger and better than its predecessors with performances and appearances by several Bollywood stars like Katrina Kaif, Salman Khan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Ranbir Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Anil Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and many others.
Post the remarkable win of CSK over SRH, players were seen celebrating with their families. IPL 2018 was eventful for Andrew Tye as well. The ace bowler from KXIP bagged 24 wickets in 14 matches with an economy of 8.00 . A special mention should be given to the man running close second i.e. Rashid Khan (SRH), who bowled one of the best economy rate of the season i.e. 6.73 taking away 21 wickets. No wonder, he has the most number of dot balls (167) to his credit.

From unusual batting shots to unbelievable catches, all the teams brought their best on the table. Of course, some of the moments are just too good to be put into words.
The talented DD bowler, Trent Boult was awarded the Perfect Catch of the Season for his back peddling catch of Virat Kohli’s wicket. Boult’s precision and execution was beyond words.
Trust Mr. 360 Degree to turn the game around for his team! The legendary cricketer AB de Villiers never fails to surprise his fans with his commendable batting knocks. But he is equally, if not more, outstanding in the field as well. His ‘spiderman’ catch of SRH’s Alex Hales was no less than a phenomenon!
Sanju Samson from Rajasthan Royals has proved his worth time and again. One such moment was when he caught Hardik Pandya’s shot flying in mid-air. We suggest you watch the video to believe the magic he casted!
