Celebrate The Golden Era Of Indian Hockey With Akshay Kumar: ‘Gold’ Trailer Out!

After months of wait, the much awaited trailer of Akshay Kumar’s first sports biopic Gold is out! Everything about the trailer is pure “GOLD.”  There is a perfect blend of hockey, patriotism, passion and an exceptional star cast.

The trailer traces the “golden era” of Indian hockey through the journey of Tapan Das, a youngster who dreams of playing for an independent nation. It shows how it took 12 years to win a gold for India. The 2 minutes 18 seconds long trailer shows the triumphs and tragedies that came in the way of Tapan and how he along with his team made this dream a reality.

Akshay Kumar, who will be seen playing a Bengali character for the very first time is completely nailing his look and accent. Looking at the Gold trailer, it seems that the actor has another blockbuster on his hands. The film also marks the big screen debut of television star Mouni Roy who will be seen playing the role of Kumar’s wife in the sports biopic. Gold also stars Kunal Kapoor, Amit Sadh, Vineet Singh and Sunny Kaushal.

Inspired by true events, Gold captures India’s first Olympic Games’ win as a free country in hockey. India had just become independent when the Olympic Games were being hosted in England in 1948. India defeated its former colonial masters on their soil. Akshay Kumar’s Gold will bring these events on the big screen.

Interestingly, Gold releases on August 15 and August 12 marks the 70th anniversary of India’s first gold medal as a free country at the 1948 Summer Olympic Games in London. The release couldn’t have been planned better. Gold is helmed by Reema Kagti, who previously directed Talaash. With a stellar trailer and an incredible team, Gold comes with a lot of expectations.
