Akshay Kumar’s highly awaited I-Day release- Gold has constantly been treating us with its quirky music tracks. These songs highlight a different shade of the characters every time. While “Naino Ne Baandhi” was all about the romantic side of Tapan Das, “Chad Gayi Hai” focused on the hidden, easygoing part of his personality. Now, the latest dance song “Monobina” brings out the fun-loving side of the female lead too.
The song begins with a toast “To Hockey and India…Free India!” Soon, cheerful jazz vibes take over as a carefree Tapan Das starts humming his own version of the song being played at the party.

Laced with Bengali lyrics in between, the song is more of a celebration where all characters seem to be having a great time. Things get further entertaining once Monobina herself-played by Mouni Roy- joins the singing and dancing. And the heartwarming chemistry between the actors is delightful to watch.
“Monobina” is composed by Tanishk Bagchi best known for singing in movies like Badrinath Ki Dulhania, Baadshaho and Raid among others. The super fun track has the power to pull you to the dance floors while creating a happy vibe at the same time. The retro-jazz arrangement only enhances the appeal of the music.
Inspired by true events, Gold is a historical sports drama. It beautifully captures India’s first Olympic Games’ win as a free nation. The country had just become independent when England was hosting the 1948 Olympic Games. India created history by defeating its former colonial masters on their soil. The film revolves around the events that led to this inspiring victory.
In a fictionalized account, the film traces the journey of Tapan Das, the man who dreamt of winning India’s first gold in hockey, post-Independence.
Gold is a Reema Kagti directorial starring actors like Kunal Kapoor, Amit Sadh and Vineet in pivotal roles. Popular TV actress Mouni Roy is making her debut playing the female lead in the film.
